As I share on the “About This Blog” page, I worked at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, 2003-2009. I earned my MA in Art History at the University of Kentucky in 2008 with a Master’s Thesis entitled, “Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, As House Museum: Private Home and Public Destination” under the direction of Dr. Wallis Miller, Associate Professor in Architecture.
This blog is an effort to share the wealth of historical information about the incredible and singular place that is Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate.
Now living in Chicago, I am indeed writing a book based on my thesis for the University Press of Kentucky. It will be the fascinating 200+ year story of Ashland, from private home to public museum – and all the twists and turns along the way. And I am honored to tell that story.

Best wishes on your book, Wendy. I am currently a tour docent at Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate and a couple years ago ran across your blog – maybe a Charlie Muntz recommendation. I love it! I have learned so much from your writings. I am definitely looking forward to your book. It is certainly going to have a place on my bookshelf – after I read it!

Thank you so much, Jerrye! Isn’t Ashland an incredible place? I look forward to meeting you next time I visit.
Perhaps at a book signing event? I’ll be there!
You are great! If all goes well, that would be next year some time. 🙂
